Growing Pains: What To Do If You Exceed Your Package’s Member Limits?

Date:

Exceeding your member limit in your subscription package is a sign of successful club growth, a common "growing pain" that the Member Jungle system is designed to handle. Our flexible approach allows organisations to easily increase their member count as their membership numbers rise. Whether you choose to pay a small membership fee for extra members or upgrade your package for more features, Member Jungle can scale effortlessly with your success.

When I was growing up, my parents would never buy me expensive shoes, as I would just grow out of them before long. In hindsight, that’s totally fair enough; shoes are expensive. However, when I started Year 7, after months of begging, my parents finally gave in and bought me a brand-new pair of Nike Sweet Classic High Tops. As a compromise, they bought them two sizes too big, with the idea that I would grow into them and get to wear my dream shoes for longer.

Of course, in a cruel twist of fate, my feet stopped growing there and then. More than a decade later, I still have those shoes, and they are still too big for me.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could buy a pair of shoes that were the perfect size and could simply grow with you? While that may not be a reality for shoes, it is for Member Jungle. Our subscription packages have different member limits, but they can grow with you and your club or association, ensuring that Member Jungle is always the right fit.

So, let's talk about Member Jungle’s package limits and what you can do if you reach them.

Member Jungle Package Member Limits

Member Jungle has four different membership packages, each of which has various different included extras and limits. What we are focusing on today is the number of members you can have in each package.

The four packages and their included members are:

  • Essentials - 250 members
  • Standard - 750 members
  • Premium - 5,000 members
  • Ultimate - 15,000 members

Now that we know what the member limits are in all of the packages, let’s look at what we actually count towards this total member number figure.

How We Count Your Members At Member Jungle

At Member Jungle, we only count members who are actually, well, members. Unlike a lot of other membership management companies, we don't count marketing contacts. If you email a non-member to try to get them on board, they won't be counted towards your member limit.

Here's a breakdown of who is and isn't included in your member count.

We count these members towards your limit:

  • Current Members
  • Expired Members
  • Pending Members (people who have signed up but have not yet been approved)
  • Secondary Members (secondary members of a group or family membership)

We do not count these people toward your member count:

  • Public Event Attendees
  • Public Purchasers Via The Online Store
  • Marketing Contacts
  • Removed Members
  • Archived Members

At the end of the day, it's pretty simple; we only count actual members. This means you can grow your club or association's database and email list with non-members, host public events, and sell merchandise without worrying about it affecting your member limit. It just gives you the freedom to run your organisation without having to count every single person you interact with.

What Happens If You Go Over Your Member Limit?

Exceeding your member limit is anything but a big deal; in fact, it is something the Member Jungle system is designed to handle. If it happens, you have a few simple options to choose from

Option 1: Clean Up Your Membership

As we count pending and expired members, often the easiest solution is to just clean up those members. You probably have some old expired memberships that have been sitting there for ages and can be either archived or removed. If you remove members, they will no longer count towards your total, but they will still be able to reactivate their accounts and rejoin your organisation whenever they like.

For more details on these member status and what they mean, see Understanding Member Statuses When Using The Member Jungle System.

Option 2: Pay For Extra Members

If cleaning up your membership doesn’t get you back under the limit, or you just want a bit more wiggle room for your growing organisation, you can opt to pay for extra members. These fees are a small monthly charge and vary based on your current package. You can add extra members in blocks as many times as needed.

  • Essentials - 100 members for $30AUD per month
  • Standard - 100 members for $22AUD per month
  • Premium - 100 members for $10AUD per month
  • Ultimate - Contact Us for a Quote

Option 3: Upgrade To A Higher Package

If you find you’re repeatedly having to pay for more members because your club or association just keeps on growing, you might decide it’s time to upgrade to a bigger package. Not only will this increase your member limit by quite a lot, but it will also give you access to a bunch of more advanced features that will help you better manage your growing membership.

If you want to upgrade your package or find out some more details about what’s involved, please reach out to a member of the team

Where To Next?

No matter which option you choose, if you go over your current member limit, a member of the Member Jungle team will be notified. They will then reach out to you to let you know of the issue and help you work out the best solution for your club or association.
