The search for the right membership management system can be overwhelming, especially with new players constantly emerging. It's natural to wonder: Can these startups be trusted? Will they last? And what happens if they get swallowed up by a larger corporation? The reality is that the landscape is varied, with both promising newcomers and inherent risks, given that over 60% of tech startups can fold within five years.
So, where does Member Jungle stand in all of this? If you're looking for a partner with proven experience, a reliable track record, and a commitment to remaining focused on your needs, then keep reading. We'll address those very questions about Member Jungle's foundation and future.
Member Jungle’s History
First things first, let’s clear up the whole Telligence vs Member Jungle thing. Telligence is the name of the company; Member Jungle is the name of the membership management system. In 2016, Telligence started Member Jungle as a specialised membership management side project. Over the past decade, Member Jungle has grown and grown and has now become the main focus of Telligence. Also, to be clear, all of the Telligence team work on Member Jungle; it is just one team that does everything.
Right, back to the history.
Our story today starts back in 2004. Shrek 2 had just come out, George W. was about to be reelected, Usher was on top of the charts, and I was in year 3 and probably busy playing the recorder or some nonsense. It was amongst this that Telligence was founded, a software development company that would one day go on to morph into Member Jungle.
Telligence started as a hosting and development company that made custom systems for a wide range of companies across Australia and beyond. Bit by bit, the team at Telligence worked with more membership-type organisations, building membership card scanning systems, apps and ways for companies to track memberships until in 2016 the Telligence team decided to launch Member Jungle.
Also, a side note, the Shrek 2 soundtrack is absurdly stacked. David Bowie, The Eels, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Tom Waits.
Okay, back on track. So, the next question is what has Telligence done and who has it worked with in its more than 20 years of operations?
Camplify
Have you ever heard of Camplify, the peer-to-peer marketplace that connects RV owners with people who want to hire them for holidays or road trips? Well, did you know that this company, which is now a publicly traded company on the ASX, was started by a former member of the Telligence team?
That’s right, Camplify founder Justin Hales was part of the Telligence Team; he started Camplify while working here, and for the first few years, Telligence developed and maintained the Camplify system until the company eventually grew big enough to take the development and management of the system in-house.
Fitness Passport
Telligence built the original Fitness Passport system back in 2012, including their custom system, an iPad app for gym check-ins, and member card creation process. Telligence maintained this system, which spread across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, for a decade until 2022, when Fitness Passport was bought out.
Muso's Corner
All the Novocastrians will know this one. Muso’s Corner has been a cornerstone of the Newy music scene for decades and is now one of the largest online musical stores in Australia.
Telligence created the first ever Muso’s Corner website and took them online for the first time. Telligence maintained the Muso’s Corner system for well over a decade.
Side note, the second: Novocastrian is too fancy a term for people from Newcastle. It doesn’t fit us. This is the Steel City, Newy, or on special occasions Spewy, so we shouldn’t be called Novocastrians. Mind you, I don't have an alternative; my original idea of us being called Spews has been met with universal dislike.
Fourth Wave Wines
Here’s one I didn’t know about until I started writing this article; Telligence has run the website of Fourth Wave Wines since 2016. On a related note, I have enjoyed Fourth Wave Wines since about 2016.
Health Services
Telligence has a long history of working with health services; here are just a few of the ones that Telligence has built and/or maintains.
- SARRAH - Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health
- ADGP - Australian Divisions of General Practice
- AUSTOX - A toxicology lab tracking system for Australian Toxicology Labs
- The New South Wales Rural Doctors Network
Other Systems & Websites Telligence Has Built And/Or Hosts
The Telligence team has also built systems for or hosted the websites of the following companies:
- Repco
- Canberra Airport
- Hunter Water
- Mid-Coast Water
- Mark Hughes Foundation
Telligence has a long history of developing custom systems for various companies. Throughout this time, Telligence has consistently demonstrated its reliability and trustworthiness, proving itself as a steadfast partner in the industry.
Member Jungle’s Future
After nearly a decade of operations, Member Jungle has become the core of the Telligence business, taking up the lion’s share of our team's energy and passion. Over this time, we've partnered with hundreds of clubs and associations, empowering them to manage their members and organisations with ease.
As we look ahead, our commitment to you, our users, remains unwavering. Firstly, Member Jungle/Telligence is and will continue to be an independent Australian company. We have no plans to be acquired by larger corporations, ensuring our focus stays firmly on the needs of clubs and associations, not distant profit-driven agendas.
Secondly, our Australian roots are a cornerstone of our service. Our support team is located right here in Australia, meaning no frustrating time zone nonsense when you need assistance. We understand the local landscape and are here to provide timely and relevant support.
Thirdly, Member Jungle is a green business. All our websites are hosted with green energy, our office runs on solar power, and we take every opportunity to help the natural environment around us. Sooner or later, the climate crisis will change how businesses, clubs and associations do business, and we are more than ready for those changes.
Looking forward, we are continuously investing in and evolving the Member Jungle platform. Our system is constantly improving with monthly product releases coming out to ensure that Member Jungle is always improving and growing. Our goal is to ensure Member Jungle remains a cutting-edge, user-friendly solution that adapts to the changing needs of your club or association for many years to come.
